Lake pleasant is located 30 miles north of metropolitan Phoenix. This became one of the most popular in place of outdoor recreation in Arizona. It was built between 1926 and 1928 and was named as Waddell Dam, a structure 250 meters long, which seized the water system Agua Fria River. The name lake was named after Carl Pleasant, the engineer who designed the dam. Waddell Dam was completed in November 1992. Lake Pleasant has river water and by Coles Creek, Castle Creek, Humbug Creek and other drainages.
The new dam has tripled the size of nice lake, making it the second largest body of water in central Arizona. It has become extremely important for both recreation and irrigation. Lake has three areas of water. lake water is extremely clear and highly oxygenated. Lake pleasant is located 15 miles west of the Carefree Highway 30 1.17 miles north of Phoenix, in city limits of Peoria. With 10,000 acres of clear water, visitors can enjoy water skiing, jet skiing, sailing or fishing.
The entrance to The park is located 2 miles north of State Route 75 off Castle Hot Springs Road. The following facilities are available through the main entrance are Desert Tortoise camp, group camp, RV dump station, 10 tracks, boat ramp, Roadrunner Camp picnic area and visitor center. The second entrance to the park is located 3 miles north on the road Castle thermal waters, beyond the main entrance. The north entrance provides access to four lane ramp for boats, two bathrooms and coastal camping and picnic area cottonwood day use.
Several group activities are enjoyable tournaments on the lake fishing, company picnics, water course races, so the lake water temperature ranging 50-80 degrees centigrade. Several aquatic life include white bass, bass striped fish big mouth, bluegill, white crappie, black crappie, bigmouth, buffalo fish, catfish, catfish flathead, sunfish green sunfish, encompass and tilapia. Nice lake regional park offers 148 sites for RV and tent camping. Each site has developed water, electricity, dump station, covered Ramada, picnic table, grill and fire ring. Semi site has developed Ramada, picnic table, grill and fire ring. Both camps offer toilets and showers.
Another site that can be played is nice port located on the southeast coast of Lake Pleasant. It is also a five star RV resort. It also offers 254 full hook sites and 40 partial hook sites, as well as a clubhouse, heated pool and spa, lake access for your boat and other amenities. Another place to visit in Lake Pleasant is the Scorpion Bay Marina & Yacht Club which is located on the west coast. The marina offers various facilities such as ramp lunch, tram service, restaurant, shop and snack bar. Nearby cities that can be are visited Sun City, Peoria, Sun City West, Surprise, Glendale, Cave Creek, Carefree, Wickenburg Phoenix and Scottsdale.
