Catfish and Alabama football games!
Torn between a lazy afternoon on the Tennessee River waiting for the catfish to bite or listening to the football at the University Alabama games can really mess a kid's head south. To ease the pain of mental conflict, I decided to do both at the same time.
Although not required have a Boat in which to pass the time, I'd rather be in the middle of the river than sharing a good fishing spot with fellow fishermen. Though I like to brag about the fish I caught, I do not want anyone to know exactly where I caught them.
My boat is equipped with a pair of items that are not usually found in flat foot normal 16 fishing vessels in the background. After years of contemplation on "must have" things, I decided on the following:
You have to have a radio. You could bring a laptop, but it would be my luck to knock him overboard. Radio is cheaper, it is powered by a handful of batteries or is connected to a power power boat.
For a while, I entertained the idea of a TV covered with a hood to protect it from sun, rain or spray of water as a zombie on the lake or river. I nixed that idea after I discovered how much cost of satellite TV connections. I settled for the radio.
You need to know what you 're fishing, if you will have a relaxing afternoon of fishing and football. If you're going after small fish, then you'll probably be busy most the afternoon to take them off the hook and put more bait. This activity can distract you from the emotion of the radio.
Fish and large catfish you are almost guaranteed that you'll have a nice afternoon of college football. Put more bait on the hook after a pan-sized fish has nibbled on it, you can do losing a big game from your favorite team.
Fish for big catfish! Use bait that is so big-sized fish will not give it a second thought. large catfish do not bite very often, so you will not be forced to take precious time away from the noise of the crowd on his radio to fight on the boat.
You have to have a cooler, but not full of alcohol. I've never been one to drink while flying around a lake or river on a fishing boat. No need be a great loss of concentration to stop floating on the surface or sinking to the bottom of the river like a donut lead.
My cooler is stocked Mineral water, soft drinks, hamburgers, mustard, onion and ketchup. hamburger buns are in a bow of the cabinets, along with paper plates, Coffee and lifejackets.
The burgers should be pre-formed patties, because it's not sanitary to do it on the boat. At the moment you're hungry hands probably have a fishy smell, which has a tendency to leave a strange smell of hamburger meat.
You have to have a portable propane grill. I have saved in a live well of the boat. Since I'm just fishing for big fish that do not fit in well, I use space for other things.
There removable metal plate is installed on my boat, just above the foredeck, so the fat from burgers, I cook steaks or chops will not soak into the carpet on the deck.
You have to face the normal fishing, rod and reel, hooks and sinkers. There must be some bait on the boat, if the game is boring and you'd really like to catch a fish. You could do it the easy way and stay home and catch the game on TV, but that does not would be so fun.
