Where can I rent canoes or kayaks in Ottawa?
I'm moving to Ottawa in late spring and have to leave my home by canoe. I love being on the water, but not practical for me to buy a used canoe or kayak, while upstairs. I have no car and I'm sure the bus driver would not be very happy to see me on the bus portaging. Any one know of a place with the city of Ottawa, who rent these boats, along with equipment from Boat (Lifejackets, paddles, etc.) for everyday use?
Hey Shelley, the only place in town I can think of is the Dow's Lake. Leads to the channel, which is something like 3 miles long as you do, then nothing better, though of course not as much fun as a real lake. I put the links for Lake Dow, a map of the channel in the source box for you. How you're busing the number 3 is the bus take to get there.You can get it from the apartment lebretan or in front of the Rideau Centre (These are reference points, but there are many others as well). Since I have no idea where in town you will live I can not help more, but then at least its something. I am also from Newfoundland and has grown in Ottawa when you move down, let me know, I'd be happy to show you the city and at least you know someone in the city. Feel free to email me anytime.
