Diving in Texas can open a whole new world

While some may say that there is much enthusiasm enough above the water surface, the residents Texas may want to consider a new world that beckons.

It's the world of diving – strapping on a tank and equip yourself with the proper diving equipment to explore all that the world of submarines has to offer.

For those who live in the cities of Dallas, Houston and Austin, exploring the world of diving may mean traveling to the coast Texas along the Gulf of Mexico. But there are also numerous opportunities in the interior, with training centers, including one in Athens, southeast of Dallas, available for training and recreation.

Those who choose to take the plunge will have plenty of company, with about 3 million Americans already certified divers, many of whom live in Texas.

While there are diving opportunities in and around Texas, including the Gulf of Mexico, many diving enthusiasts upside the warm waters of eastern and western Caribbean, where coral reefs and marine life are aplenty. Some choose to stay in one or more of the hundreds of stations land from which they can dive – or learn to dive – but many divers will want to stay on a boat or charter boats crewed (In eastern Caribbean) or live aboard diving vessels (in the west).

On a dive boat crews are professional diving, and many instructors can help a diver getting new license or checked if it's been awhile since the last dive of a person. Charter captains know the most popular diving spots and has some favorites not known as their own. All boats have dive equipment on board, most have to keep the compressors scuba tanks full.

In the eastern Caribbean, especially the U.S. and British Virgin Islands for at least 40 scooters available with a certified copy of a diving instructor for you can learn right on board. The types of boats available range of motor yachts from 80 feet for sailboats and catamarans sprawling minors, serving couples. Each boat and the crew is different, but they all want their customers to have a great time.

If the dip is not exactly what you want, but you still want to check things out, diving can be a wonderful way to get a window on what lies beneath. In St. John, USVI, for example, there is a snorkeling trail marked on Trunk Bay maintained by National Park Service of the U.S..

Another benefit of crewed charters is the ability to swim after the sun goes down. About 80% of all marine life emerges only at night with flashlights but underwater, a diver is ready.

Live-aboard dive vessel operators say a diver is four times more likely to see large marine animals such as rays, dolphins and whales that are hosted at a resort on land.
