Boat Lights Laws

there are laws about kayaks after dark?
I know when I had my Boat, you need a light. You need that when kayaking? is clear that it is safer to have a light, but you have to have a law? you may just have a reflective vest …? Florida, if it makes a diffrence
Powered boat not all vessels must use the proper navigation lights. However, non-motorized vessels such as canoes, kayaks, boats and sailboats less than 7 meters in length, are not required to have lights installed, and can use a flashlight to navigate. Light does not have to be connected all the time, but must be activated in time to avoid a collision. (Article 25) This is a minimum requirement. Kayaks can also use standard navigation lights for boats in the bow of red showing 112.5 degrees, showing green on the starboard 112.5 dgrees and white showing 135 degrees backward. Here are two excellent sites that discuss the use of lights in kayaks at night: http://www.connyak.org/Public% http://www.sit-on-topkayaking.com/Articles/Safety 20Affairs/Night_Paddling_Lights.html / NightKayaking.htm hope this helps
