aluminum Boat Lights spinning john?

I have 4 lights in my boat.2 in front of the boat and two in front are connected to a back.both wire.same with the back. now there is a thread linking all lights.im wonting put an on / switch in.the FSS has connectors on the back of a it.im guess doesn't negative.but positive to say postive are negative on it.i connected the power wire to a connector and ran a wire from there two, the positive on battery.i took a ground wire is a negative and tied in to the boat and one for the other connector on the back of the on / off switch.then ran a wire it to the negative on battery.when I touch the negative battery for me to buy a great spark.when I turn the machine off and turn it to negative the lights come on.what here.just'm doing wrong trying to get the lights and connect them to a switch that I I do not have to hold the wires for rigging battery.i had to work when I had the key in a diffent place remmber but not how it was created.?

No connect a ground wire for change! That's why you're getting a spark. All lights are earthed directly to the battery (you can tie them all to the same wireless connection) not through a switch. The switch receives a positive link to it from the battery and then a wire is run from the switch to provide power for lights. All 12 volt systems use at least two wires in one boat, one positive and one for negative.
