How do you deal with a partner who wants everything?
My partner is very finicky sometimes .. every week has a new idea that he will buy as a Boat, a new dog, a bike or whatever, it changes every week and all I really want is to save up for a deposit on a house that I think should be our first step instead of buying toys! His parents say they want me to handle their money and I try, but these ideas only come from everywhere and I just want to give up times.h started a new job and eventually he will be able to borrow money to do all those ideas into reality and I'm concerned. At the beginning before all these ideas that he really wants to save up for a house deposit, but only takes your mind somewhere else and he thinks he can afford both. I do not want to feel like your mother and I hate argueing about it. Any advice?
Do not let him do it for you. If he has any serious ambition for you two and your future … he need to buckle down. Like you said, you need to be your partner, not her mother. And he really needs to work on his being. If he takes a loan out … what could be the start of a really bad habit / cycle. If I were you, I do not let that happen. If you really feel that this guy (kid) it's worth, I would take control of the finances … draw a budget … and see how it performs on it. Then, after your goals are within reach, you can start talking toys.
