Boat Seats Reupholstering

To Refinish furniture or not?
Because it is a sin to remove the old finish damaged in a chair does not paint the age of a rusty car? Why do car seats reupholstered seats but add value chairs reupholstered destroy value? Why is it good to replace the tires on a car, but not in the rockers a rocker? So why the furniture is being evaluated differently? Why is there a double standard when it comes to mobile?
As painters, we have a voice on this issue and we need to use it. We need to educate the public through our customers that there should be no double standard when it came to value antiques that what is good for the Model A should be as good for the pie safe. We need to transform the current trend back to how it used be, when the value added to restore antique furniture!
For clarification, we are not talking about a museum quality furniture speciric really old item that has been protected in prestine condition and has become highly valuable and collectible. We're talking fine furniture items aer old who are probably family memories.
1930 Ford Model A has been discovered in the garage of an old lady. The tires are smooth and not will hold air, your battery is dead and will not charge, their places are dry skin, cracked and break when touched, your paint is dull and worn over the top of the fenders and running boards are their rusty. Basically, this model is old in original condition, but has little value.
same car, three years later, completely restored, is now in showroom condition, as it came from the factory. The car dismantled, gutted your fabric, paint peeling, rust sandblasted, revised engine, brakes rebuilt, was newly painted, newly upholstered and was given new tires, new wiring, new battery, you name it. The only thing still unique about this car is the steel from which it was made. The value now triggers.
Now take the same model, the same year, same style of car found in a similar state of originality: this owner chooses to dismantle, strip and gut and then mix the fenders and hood, cut the top, bottom the body, put on a reputation for newer car, replace the engine with a full-blown, super-charged Ford Shelby, replace with drag slicks 16 inch and paint the car yellow with bright red flames adorn the sides. He adds air conditioning, power windows, stereo, automatic transmission, and because the door handles were removed, remote door openers. A touch on the fob and the door opens. Press another button and light the red neons under the car like it was burning in flames. Wow! What a change! In the market for hot-rod, their may be even greater than the car completely restored.
This scenario can be applied to almost any antique. Paintings can be cleaned and restored. Boats can be rebuilt, restored aircraft, buildings abated from its original lead paint and restored – all with one thing in common: The value is increased by retouch and restoration.
