How to go about restoring an old Boat motor?
Hi all, I want to restore my grandfather is old (~ 1977) 16 'starcraft boats Aft recess. We need a new motor, trailer, floor, paint, front bow seats, and probably some electrical work. I would also like to add an electric motor and some fishing grounds pedestal. I would like to change the wooden floor made of some kind so I do not have to worry about that rotten. The hull of the boat is in great condition. I think a 50hp engine will be all that I need because I will mostly be fishing with him. Where can I learn more about how to do this and where can I get parts? Thanks!
Did you restore a car, if "the situation was in great condition?" Probably not. Remember: You can buy a new car from a dealer showroom to 25,000.00 If you buy the same car, over the counter, which will cost 10 times more, and you have to put it together himself. The same happens with boats. Unless this project has enormous sentimental value to you, then the best advice would be to sell the hull for scrap, and start with a new package, or a good used.
