Like the pirates of old, Norfolk does not reveal its treasures abundant lightly. The best way to discover them is to take the interior and view them one of many forms of water transportation quietly cut through this vast area of wetlands. If your goal is to relax and be at peace with nature, spying Norfolk spectacular wildlife, or to slip back into history to the medieval villages and towns, vacation Norfolk offer a unique experience to all visitors.
For those who prefer dry land, Norfolk is a great place for walkers and cyclists, with vast areas of unspoilt countryside and trails winding in and out of picturesque villages complete with thatched cottages, village greens and old churches sleepy. The small group of villages around Barton Broad Staithe each has its own, or piers, offshore, with Boat rentals and plenty of boat trips.
The largest of these three villages is Neatishead which can be accessed through Lime Kiln Dyke, a wooded haven of peace Barton Broad. Neatishead is surrounded by walkways tides and calm, but also hosts a museum display of air defense and radar detection in 1930. The village itself houses good restaurants, a friendly bar and village shop. The Barton Broad boardwalk, winding through the ancient forest, is a must for its spectacular views, which change dramatically throughout the year.
The two small sleepy villages in the cluster are Irstead and Barton Turf, both dotted with thatched cottages and surrounded by beautiful trails the quiet country. Irstead has a fifteenth century church, complete with thatched roof, while Barton Turf has a fourteenth century church with a very fine rood screen history pain. You can climb the tower for a breathtaking view in Norfolk, as far as Yarmouth.
Exploring whether or not beautiful historic buildings is your style, Norfolk is famous for its fishing, bird watching, nature trails and wildlife reserves. The impressive Norfolk Coast also deserves a visit. Even at the height of the season quiet beaches can be found as well as circulating mud flats and marshes fringed with pine forests and untouched coastal villages. In no place in the world can offer both for visitors and holiday in Norfolk.
