Railay – the most beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia?
Railay is a peninsula formed by four beaches, each separated from its neighbor by cliffs enormous. Although not an island, access is only by Boat, and there are no motor vehicles.
Although Railay is the most important rock South Asia climbing destination, it is far from being a destination that only climbers will enjoy. Home of two of the best beaches in Southeast Asia, is also a great place nothing to do nothing but soak up the rays and peaceful atmosphere, admire the scenery and perhaps puzzle the antics of the ant-sized climbers struggle up the rock-faces. The West Railay beach resorts serve great Thai food in a fabulous setting. The only truth on gourmet restaurants in Railay are Rayavadee that protects the privacy of its customers, making the whole establishment, including restaurants, off limits to nonresidents. If you book by phone in advance, you can get a table, but also come in dresses, or you will not be allowed in.
Beaches
Phra Nang is arguably the best beach in Thailand, if not Southeast Asia. Boracay beach in the Philippines used to that title, but now gone, except in the extreme north-exclusive, unfortunately marred by the surplus population. A wide strip of white sand and huge cliffs framing each end of the beach, Phra Nang has just enough facilities: roast chicken and salad lunch cooked on the beach, massage ladies and people quietly selling cold drinks. He has not, fortunately all the things that ruin a beach pollution, traffic, noise, street vendors too enthusiastic, jet skis and lager louts. The only resort Rayavadee on the beach is exclusive and discreet, but you have to stay there to enjoy the place. Whereas Phra Nang beach is a quiet, cozy, West Railay beach is more majestic. A broad band and extensive white sand bordered on each end by huge cliffs, West Railay has more activities going on than the Phra Nang. On most days in high season, there are football games and beach volleyball, in which visitors are invited to join in Railay Bay Resort is blessed with an excellent location at the southern end of the beach, and is a great place to stay if you can put up with the restaurant service notoriously slow.
