The refuge is a winter home not only important for legions of migrating birds, but native kingfishers, ibises, storks and wood. Green turtles, whales, alligators and rattlesnakes diamondback (FYI, avoid these) can be seen from the beaches during hiking trails or paddling a canoe, or on the scenic refuge, seven miles Black Point Wildlife Drive. For visitors who'd like to catch your own dinner, shrimp, crab, clamming, fishing or fresh water surfing and / or waterfowl hunting are allowed regulated in Merritt Island.
Founded in 1903 by President Theodore Roosevelt, Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge near Sebastian in Indian River Lagoon was a refuge for wildlife of America first. Dozens of endangered indigenous and migratory birds call the area home. The island has been named a National Historic Landmark, National Wilderness Area and a Wetland of International Importance. Visitors arriving by kayak, canoe or Boat trip to see black anhinga and varied varieties of herons, egrets, ibis and seagulls. The lucky people could have a glimpse of any of the four types of endangered sea turtles and manatees, which sometimes take the peaceful sanctuary of Pelican. The introduction 1903 protection status of the island, marked the beginning of all the memorable National Wildlife Refuge System.
When the tourists move on to the west in central Florida, they enter a land of fresh water lakes, dense forests and bubbling. Ocala National Forest is the southernmost national forest the continental U.S. and established as the first forest east of the Mississippi River. There are mountains, plains, wetlands and an abundance of splendid pines, cypresses, and palms. This destination dynamic has much to offer, including hundreds of sparkling lakes, springs and two major rivers – the Ocklawaha and St. Johns – with each offering ample opportunities for swimming, canoeing and fishing. Sightings of deer, alligators, hawks, bobcats and lunker bass are common. And for those who prefer a guided tour, the splendor Myakka can be seen from narrated tram tours and airboat.
Southwest Florida offers world-famous shelling, island getaways and sunsets shining Gulf Coast. JN "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island is the most prominent example to support conservation efforts site. Everglades National Park, in North America only subtropical preserve, is 1.5 million acres of "sea of grass" at the southern tip of mainland Florida. It is a place where plants and animals coexist in the Caribbean in a curious mix of cypress swamps and mangroves, saw grass prairies, pine trees and wood. One third of the park's surface is actually underwater, including Florida Bay which borders the park, much to the delight of canoeing. Dryer persecution park include biking, trail ranger-led walks or tram and wildlife viewing of manatees, alligators, crocodiles, Florida Panthers elusive, more than 300 varieties of birds and more species of Everglades prolific, mosquitoes.

One of the best attractions in the Florida Keys is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, America's first undersea preserve, located in Key Largo. For species marine living there, the park protects and presents the only living coral reef in the continental United States. For those intelligent enough to stop again, there shows saltwater stunning to watch – sliding a rainbow of tropical fish, lobsters, vibrant coral reefs and turtles bobbing-face. High speed, glass-bottomed catamaran is an ideal way to see the sights (narrated, too). Otherwise, grab a snorkel and fins some. Dip an oar or "spyak" (Customizing kayak with a large, transparent floor display) for an even closer look. One of the many masterpieces Pennekamp is an aquarium water salt 30,000 liters, where the tropical fish, sharks, snappers and groupers swim within inches of observers coast.
Bahia Honda State Park, mile marker Big Pine Key, 37, is a jewel in the island of eyes with its attractive beaches, waving palm trees and bright blue waters of the Atlantic waves onshore the Florida Bay. Besides boasting the best key swimming, diving and fishing beaches, Bahia Honda dunescapes rolling, mangroves and hammocks tropical timber. Birds of the Caribbean, including pelicans, egrets, great white and deep pink spoonbills, make a stop engaging Bahia Honda for avid birders.
