Wiring Boat Lights

wiring a Boat trailer?
I've been having trouble wiring my boat trailer I have a Ford F-250 and I recently wired my Boat Lights trailers. the problem is that when I turn the lights truck lights turn off and then break lights dont work. There is a yellow wire, green and brown out Connector 4-way truck and boat for a yellow, green, brown and two wires. I connected the yellow to yellow green to green, brown to brown both from the trailer. There was also a white I grounded to the boat trailer. and my question is could I have done wrong? or is there something I did not do right?
I had an F-250 – an HD 1997. I had to buy a special wiring harness to make it work. Go to a Ford dealer or any other after the comma / market place parts of the trailer and you can probably buy one for $ 25
